LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A new LongHorn Steakhouse location will soon be arriving in the Hoosier State.

Dora Hotel Company, LLC and Darden Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: DRI) have partnered to bring the well-established restaurant chain to Lafayette. The official opening date is to be determined.

Founded in 1981, LongHorn Steakhouse currently operates more than 480 locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The casual steakhouse chain offers chicken, burgers, ribs, seafood, soups and salads in addition to its signature steaks, along with a full bar featuring a wide array of beer, wine and cocktails.

The restaurant will occupy the out-lot just north of the new DoubleTree by Hilton (NYSE: HLT) Lafayette East hotel and banquet facility, which is currently under construction at 155 Progress Drive, immediately off Interstate 65 at the Highway 26 exit. The six-story, 128-room hotel is scheduled to open this fall, replacing the Best Western that previously occupied the parcel of land.

“We’re targeting a September 2017 opening for the DoubleTree by Hilton Lafayette East,” said general manager Roy Leverett. “Guests can look forward to the same quality and high standards they’ve come to expect from a Hilton-brand hotel.

“We’ll also have several intriguing dining options between our on-site Made Market Restaurant and Lounge, and – of course – our new neighbor LongHorn Steakhouse moving in across the parking lot.”

The original Doubletree name has existed since 1969, but merged with Hilton Worldwide in 1999, eventually rebranding as DoubleTree by Hilton in 2011. Based out of Scottsdale, Ariz., the hotel chain boasts nearly 500 locations globally.

“We are thrilled to introduce the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to the Lafayette community and offer visitors a new, upscale full-service hotel,” Dora Hotel Company president Tim Dora said in a press release announcing the hotel. “With Interstate 65 access next door and Purdue University down the street, this is an ideal location for business and leisure guests and we look forward to 'wowing' them with our award-winning service, positive and inviting culture, and the phenomenal sleek design of our new hotel.”

The hotel’s amenities will include 3,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, Hilton Honors rewards, a 50-inch flat screen in every guest room, an indoor pool, 10 suites, an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit, free Wi-Fi and a fitness center. Executive chef Raul Roges will oversee the Made Market Restaurant and Lounge and banquet departments.

Dora Hotel Company has another 0.83-acre site on the property just north of the hotel and west of the steakhouse that’s still available to interested parties. The site is currently listed with CBRE.

“We have room for one more tenant right next to the incoming LongHorn Steakhouse and DoubleTree by Hilton,” Dora said. “We’re incredibly excited about the potential of this area.”
